The Great Shame

What I don’t understand is why Columbia University would allow Ahmadinejad to speak.  He is one of the foremost religious zealots in the world.  In the world.  Imagine the outcry from the ACLU, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the rest of the socialist democrats had Columbia invited Pastor John Hagee, Pastor Charles Swindol, or Pastor David Jeremiah to speak.  There would be an outrage unmatched since Ann Coulter jibbed about John Edwards.

But he’s a political leader of a large Middle-Eastern country that has legitimate grievances with the U.S.

ORLY?

Let’s put that farcical statement aside for a bit and just stay on the current subject; Ahmadinejad as a religious zealot.

One of the remarkable things about this event is the obvious double-standard under which the omnipresent, left-stream media in this country lives.  On the one hand, we have Ahmadinejad, working tirelessly to bring forth the second coming – not of Christ but of Mahdi (Islam’s “Guided One” who, ironically, cannot actually guide anything or anyone lest the entire world is on the very edge of a global genocide) – in order to catapult Islam as the one-world religion; on the other we have a shoddy piece of “journalism” in Time magazine questioning whether Pope John Paul II hypocritically accepted euthanasia against Catholic doctrine.  The media gives forum and relevance to a zealot who openly and repeatedly threatens to spark a nuclear holocaust in Israel and the U.S. while simultaneously trying to undermine the legacy of one of this century’s greatest peacemakers.

By the way – it wasn’t too long ago that these same diarrhea-penned “intellectuals” accused President Bush (43) of believing himself instrumental in ushering in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.  Remember that?  Remember how he was pilloried for it in the press – pilloried for something he doesn’t believe about himself?  Yet, we have on record a political leader claiming to be just that.

Who is our enemy here?  Is it the Christians who teach love for one’s neighbor, tolerance, and forgiveness or is it the Muslims who teach hatred, compliance (Islam means “submission”), and death?  Or is it our own media and the socialist democrats who control it?

And regarding Ahmadinejad’s “legitimate grievances” tell me; what about his participation in taking and holding those sixty-six American hostages from 1979 until 1981?  How could Columbia, the socialist democrats, and our left-stream media forget that this man was instrumental in all of it?  How could they ignore that he’s behind two of the largest terrorist organizations in the world?  How could they ignore that he’s the root cause for the current situation right now in Iraq?  How could they ignore the very things he says:

“Israel is destined for destruction and will soon disappear”

“If you want to have good relations with the Iranian people in the future, you should acknowledge the right and the might of the Iranian people, and you should bow and surrender to the might of the Iranian people. If you do not accept this, the Iranian people will force you to bow and surrender.”

“"Undoubtedly, I say that this slogan and goal is achievable, and with the support and power of God, we will soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism and will breathe in the brilliant time of Islamic sovereignty over today's world.”

I would not put it past this fellow to learn from his mistakes, to take the anti-Israel and anti-U.S. rhetoric and turn it into overtures of friendship.  Why can't you see it?  The left in this country love him as does the left's mouthpiece media.  I could very easily see Ahmadinejad “solving” the Israel-Arab problem, rebuilding the temple and – well, you know the rest.

When Israel flouted God’s gifts and blessings, turning them into idolatry, materialism, and indecent sexuality, He raised up the pagan nations of Assyria and Babylon, made them strong, and led them to defeat Israel, cursing His chosen people to generations of bondage and defeat in a foreign land.

Why do we think we’re different?
